RESTON, VA. – December 4, 2020 --The Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE-USA) announced today the William W. Lang Award for the Distinguished Noise Control Engineer and the Laymon N. Miller Award for Excellence in Acoustical Consulting award winners. Kenneth Kaliski, senior director, RSG, was presented the Lang Award and the Miller Award was given to Douglas Sturz, principal consultant, ACENTECH.
“Ken and Doug exemplify excellence in the noise control and acoustical engineering field and it is a pleasure for INCE-USA to recognize them for their professional accomplishments and contributions,” said Michael Bahtiarian, president, INCE-USA. “Award winners are selected by a panel of their peers comprised of INCE-USA members. The Lang and Miller Awards are two of the most prestigious honors to receive in the noise control industry.”
The Lang Award recognizes individuals who have rendered conspicuous and consistently outstanding service to INCE-USA and to the field of noise control engineering over a sustained period. Kaliski has 34 years’ experience as a noise control engineer specifically in the area of environmental noise control. He specializes in community noise monitoring and modeling, architectural acoustics, transportation noise, and industrial noise control. He also works on complex modeling projects in the fields of market and energy research.
The Miller Award recognizes individuals who have practiced acoustical consulting in an exemplary manner over a sustained period of time, to improve acoustical environments in and around buildings, transportation systems, work places, recreational and other occupied spaces, such that the quality of life for citizens and communities is significantly enhanced.
Sturz was honored with the Miller Award for the depth and breadth of the consulting work performed in his 46-year career. Sturz has worked to improve humanity through reducing noise and ensuring that equipment, facilities, offices, and other spaces function properly and efficiently, resulting in significant enhancements to the quality of life for citizens and communities.
